Basic Terms

First of all, I’m thoroughly impressed with how strategic content creators with film are. I had no idea how intentional some of these things were until now and that they even had names.

Mise en scene in particular is how all of these things discussed in the class work earlier today come together. Its the particular message that the director wants conveyed and why those things are significant and the total picture that they hope to bring together.

Whether it be lighting or space that’s provided I can see how these things may help to draw emphasis without words which was something I struggled with in the classwork portion because there was no given context.

Typage is however interesting in this particular movie because no actual Black people are casted so every character I’ve seen whether listed as mulatto or otherwise has been over the top and their looks overexaggerated in order to capture the essence of what could have just been cast as a Black person (if they would ever agree).
